Video File Size Calculator
A video’s size is its bitrate multiplied by its length: a 4K 30 fps HEVC iPhone clip runs about 23 Mbps, or 170 MB per minute; ProRes is 800 Mbps and more. Pick a recording format (or enter a bitrate) and a duration to get the file size and how many minutes fit in 128 GB.

Bitrate, resolution and codec
Resolution sets how many pixels; bitrate sets how much data describes them per second; the codec sets how efficiently. HEVC stores the same quality as H.264 in about half the space; ProRes barely compresses at all, which is why it is used for grading and then discarded.

Questions people ask
How big is one minute of 4K video on iPhone?
About 170 MB at 4K 30 fps HEVC, 400 MB at 4K 60 fps, and roughly 6 GB per minute for 4K 30 ProRes. 1080p 30 fps is about 60 MB per minute.
Why is my video file so much bigger than the estimate?
H.264 (“Most Compatible” format) is roughly twice the size of HEVC, and ProRes is 30–50× larger. Bitrate also rises with detailed, fast-moving scenes; the presets are Apple’s averages.
Does editing change the file size?
Re-exporting re-encodes the video at the editor’s bitrate, which is usually similar to the original for HEVC/H.264 exports. Trimming without re-encoding keeps the original bitrate.
How much storage does one hour of 4K video take on iPhone?
About 10 GB at 4K 30 fps HEVC, 24 GB at 4K 60 fps, and around 360 GB for 4K ProRes. 1080p 30 fps is about 3.6 GB per hour. Check any format and length at https://whitebalancer.com/tools/video-file-size-calculator.
How big is a 10-minute 1080p video file?
Roughly 600 MB at 1080p 30 fps HEVC on iPhone, 900 MB at 60 fps, and about 1.3 GB in H.264 “Most Compatible”. Size = bitrate × seconds ÷ 8; https://whitebalancer.com/tools/video-file-size-calculator has the presets.
